    Perfectly Manage STP Compliance

Single Touch Payroll (STP) is a government initiative to streamline employer reporting obligations.

Using STP, employers can report their employees’ salaries and wages, pay as you go (PAYG) withholding and super information to us from their payroll solution, at the same time they pay their employees.

STP reporting started on 1 July 2018 for employers with 20 or more employees. It was extended to include small employers (with 19 or less employees) with a gradual start date from 1 July to 30 September 2019. Some exceptions may apply, for more information.

Information and resources are available to help you with your STP-enabled product. We also hold a range of consultation and engagement activities.

    STP applies to:

    • A payment to an employee, such as salary or wages
    • Remuneration to the director of a company
    • Return-to-work payment to an individual
    • Termination payments to employees
    • Unused leave paid
    • Parental leave pay
    • Payment to an employee under the Seasonal Labour Mobility Program

Other non-mandatory details that can also be provided to the ATO under STP reporting include:

    • Reportable employer superannuation contribution
    • Reportable fringe benefit amounts for employees
    • Payments made to contractors outside the payroll (contractors paid through the payroll are to be reported through STP)
